The weather alert is part of a broader heavy rainfall warning issued by IMD for multiple districts across Maharashtra

Mumbai on Friday experienced rains and heavy showers were reported in several parts of the city

The rainfall is likely to subside early next week, as the IMD has predicted moderate showers in many parts of the state

The IMD has also issued a thunderstorm alert for central and eastern Maharashtra, specifically Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, and Chandrapur, predicting winds of 30-40 kmph in some areas

The department has cautioned residents, particularly those in low-lying areas, to prepare for possible localized flooding and disruptions to transport and municipal services
