The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for the city, warning of very heavy to extremely heavy rain throughout the day. PIC/ ATUL KAMBLE

The red alert also covers the neighbouring districts of Thane, Raigad, and Palghar, where similar intense rainfall is expected. (PIC/ ATUL KAMBLE)

According to the IMD, Mumbai and its suburbs will likely see a generally cloudy sky with heavy to very heavy showers, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph. (PIC/ ATUL KAMBLE)

In addition to rainfall, tide levels are being closely monitored due to the heightened flooding risk. (PIC/ ATUL KAMBLE)

On Sunday, a high tide of 3.24 meters is expected at 2:55 p.m., followed by a low tide of 1.31 meters at 8:50 p.m. (PIC/ ATUL KAMBLE)

The heaviest spells were recorded late at night, with 43.94 mm at 11:30 p.m., followed by 22.60 mm at 10:30 p.m., and 12.70 mm at 12:30 a.m. (PIC/ ATUL KAMBLE)

Meanwhile, people were seen braving the rain on Link Road, Dahisar West. (PIC/ NIMESH DAVE)

With this, Mumbai’s cumulative seasonal rainfall has reached 3,070.34 mm, drawing closer to last year’s total of 3,330.56 mm. (PIC/ NIMESH DAVE)
