A teenage boy was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend following a dispute over an objectionable photograph on a mobile phone in Beed district of Maharashtra, police said on Monday.
According to police, the incident stemmed from an argument over an objectionable photo on a mobile phone, which escalated into a violent altercation, PTI reported.
The incident occurred around 8:30 pm near Limba village in Shirur Kasar tehsil on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Sumit Gavate (19), a resident of Belura village.
According to the news agency, Police have arrested one of the four accused involved in the crime, while three others, including a Home Guard jawan, are absconding.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and have launched an investigation into the matter.
In a swift breakthrough, the Mumbai Police have solved the murder of an 80-year-old woman within 24 hours of discovering her body in Andheri East. Two accused, including the victim's brother and sister-in-law, have been arrested in connection with the case.
The case came to light on April 24, 2026, when civic workers alerted Andheri Police Station after finding a highly decomposed body inside a drain near an open plot close to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, in the Om Nagar area of Marol Pipeline Road.
Police teams reached the spot immediately and conducted a preliminary inspection. Given the condition of the body, an accidental death report was initially registered.
