New Delhi: As many as 81 per cent of the residents of the national capital want full statehood for Delhi, a C-voter survey has revealed.

According to the survey, 81 per cent of more than 3,000 Delhiites polled said they would vote for full statehood if a referendum on the issue was held today.

Among the respondents were both those who had voted for BJP and Congress and people cutting across caste, class and gender lines supported the full statehood demand.

The AAP government has been demanding full statehood status for Delhi.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently asked the urban development department for a referendum on the demand but BJP and Congress strongly criticised the move.
