Nashik: A 24-year-old labourer was killed when a countrymade pistol that he was handling allegedly went off accidentally, police said on Monday.
Mangal Anirudhha Manzi, a labourer from Bihar, was yesterday sitting along with his five friends at a place under Satpur police station limits in the wee hours. He was checking a countrymade pistol, which was allegedly owned illegally by one of his friends, when he accidentally pulled the trigger following which the bullet went off and hit him. Manzi died on the spot, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shrikant Dhivare said.
Later, two of his friends were detained, while a search was on for the three others who were present at the time of the incident, police said.
An FIR under IPC section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) has been registered by Satpur Police, Dhivare said.
Meanwhile, in another incident, two persons were arrested from the city's Khadakali locality last evening for illegal possession of countrymade pistol which they were trying to sell, police added.
