Nearly 16,000 people have been affected by floods across 69 villages in Assam`s Dhemaji district, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. Heavy flooding also damaged a railway bridge, prompting the suspension of train services between Archipathar and Simen Chapari

Nearly 16,000 people have been affected by floods in 69 villages across four revenue circles in Assam's Dhemaji, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said his government was mobilising all resources to provide relief and long-term rehabilitation of flood-affected people.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said all train services between Archipathar and Simen Chapari stations had been suspended indefinitely after a railway bridge was damaged due to heavy flooding.
