Maharashtra: 80 students, 10 teachers travelling on Mangala Express during school trip fall sick

Around 80 students travelling on Train No. 12618 Mangala Express as part of a school trip reported symptoms including loose motion, vomiting and stomach discomfort, Indian Railway officials said.

The students were travelling in the S2 and S3 coaches along with 10 teachers. Railway medical personnel attended to around 30 to 40 affected students during the train's halt at Khandwa.

The affected students were examined by railway medical staff and were provided with necessary medicines and oral rehydration solution (ORS).

One of the accompanying teachers expressed a desire to continue the journey with the students. Following this, railway medical personnel accompanied the group to monitor their condition during the onward journey.

Students stable at Bhusawal

When the train reached Bhusawal, all the students were medically assessed and found to be stable.

A further assessment was carried out in the morning. The students continued to remain stable, with no deterioration in their condition reported.

Railway authorities said the situation is stable and that the students remain under continuous medical monitoring.
