MiG 21 crashes, pilot ejects safely

A MiG 21 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed Friday in Rajasthan's Barmer district, an official said. The pilot ejected safely.


Defence spokesperson S D Goswami said that the crash took place near Sodiyar village around 9 a.m.

A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause behind the accident.

Goswami said the aircraft took off from Uttarlai air base on a routine flying training sortie.

There was no reported damage to civil life or property in the crash.

Goswami said a rescue team was rushed to the spot and the pilot has been brought to Jodhpur Army Hospital.

The condition of pilot was stable, Goswami said.
