Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening praised the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) strong performance in West Bengal and Assam, thanking voters and party workers for their support.

In a post on X, PM Modi described the results as a reflection of people's faith in development and good governance.

PM Modi said the BJP's success in West Bengal would not have been possible without the efforts of its workers over several generations.

He acknowledged their hard work on the ground, saying they had overcome challenges and consistently promoted the party's development agenda.

Historic mandate in West Bengal

Referring to the West Bengal Assembly elections, Modi said the results would be remembered for years to come.

He said the people had delivered a strong mandate in favour of the BJP and its governance model.

The Prime Minister assured that the party would work to fulfil the aspirations of the people and ensure opportunities and dignity for all sections of society.

"Lotus Blooms in West Bengal. The 2026 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election will remain unforgettable. The power of the people and the BJP's politics of good governance have emerged victorious. I bow to every person in West Bengal. The people have given the BJP an unprecedented mandate, and I assure them that our party will do everything possible to fulfill the dreams and hopes-aspirations of the people of West Bengal. We will build a government that ensures opportunities and dignity for people from all sections of society," PM Modi wrote on X.

BJP-NDA retains support in Assam

PM Modi also welcomed the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) victory in Assam.

He said the outcome reflects continued public support for the alliance's focus on development and improving people's lives.

Thanking voters in both states, the Prime Minister said the government would continue to work towards their progress and transformation.

He reiterated the party's commitment to delivering development-oriented governance in the coming years.

"The BJP-NDA's win in the Assam Vidhan Sabha elections illustrates the unwavering support for our Alliance's emphasis on development and bringing a positive difference in people's lives. I thank my sisters and brothers of Assam for the resounding mandate. I also assure them that we will keep working for the state's transformation," PM Modi wrote on X.

Address to party workers

While addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, PM Modi described the day as "historic" and "unprecedented".

He said the results reflect public trust in democracy and in what he called the "politics of performance".

PM Modi highlighted the importance of unity, referring to the vision of "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat".

He said the election outcome represents confidence in development-focused governance and the country's democratic system.

The Prime Minister noted that these were the first Assembly elections held under BJP president Nitin Nabin.

He said the leadership and guidance provided during the campaign contributed significantly to the party's performance.
