A senior inspector from Saki Naka has taken up the issue of potholes on social media after he suffered bruises by falling from his bike after hitting a pothole on the way to the airport, at Sagar Hotel Junction, in Andheri (E).

Avinash Dharmadhikari was returning home on his Honda Activa after attending an official meeting when his bike hit an eight-inch deep and four-feet wide pothole at 10.30 pm on Sunday. Luckily, there was no vehicle coming from behind when he fell. "My major concern was that no one else should fall in it. The pothole is very dangerous and no two-wheelers can escape it. At night, due to a dimly lit road, the pothole is a life threat. I circulated photographs of the craters on WhatsApp and Facebook," he told Times of India

He said his concern was how to bring it to notice of municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta. "At least six pothole cases were registered after action was taken against contractors," he said.

Mehta on Saturday had set an October 17 deadline for civic officials to fill potholes. He visited various spots in the western suburbs to check the progress of repairs on Monday.
