Nationalist Congress Party (SP) leader Rohit Pawar on Thursday extended support to Prahar Janshakti Party chief Bachchu Kadu, who is scheduled to meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai over farmers' issues.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Pawar urged Kadu to remain cautious, expressing scepticism about the state government's intentions.

"Mr. Bacchubhau, if you've gone to Mumbai for the meeting, let's hope that something positive comes out of it. But keep in mind that this is a government that beats around the bush and wraps everything in words," the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader said.

He criticised the state government's recent detention of farmer leaders, calling it an attempt to "trial the public security law against the farmers' movement".

Pawar vowed to stand by the agitating farmers, adding, "If justice isn't served today, we'll bow at the feet of Pandurang in Pandharpur and restart the movement right there. We'll fight strongly against this oppressive government to give justice to the farmers and win."

Earlier in the day, Kadu said he was hopeful of a "good decision" with the CM. The Prahar Janshakti Party leader has been spearheading a protest demanding a farm loan waiver. The tractor march, which began on Monday from Chandurbazar in Amravati district, reached Nagpur earlier this week after halting at Wardha.

On Wednesday, the Bombay High Court had directed the protesters to clear the National Highway 44 near Nagpur, following which they shifted to a nearby ground. State ministers Pankaj Bhoyar and Ashish Jaiswal later held talks with the farmers on behalf of the government.

Fadnavis had earlier urged Kadu and other leaders to hold discussions in Mumbai rather than resorting to demonstrations that "inconvenience the public" and could be "exploited by vested interests."

"The important issue is the complete loan waiver of poor farmers. I am hopeful that a good decision will come out today," the former state minister said, according to PTI.

A decision on the future course of the 'Maha Elgar' morcha (agitation) will be taken after the meeting with the CM, he added.

On Thursday, Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange met the protesters at the agitation site in Nagpur.
