Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, who is heading towards a decisive win in the Baramati assembly bypoll, appealed to NCP workers and her supporters on Monday not to take out victory processions once the result is declared.
As the results of the Baramati Assembly by-election were declared on Monday, Sunetra Ajit Pawar expressed gratitude to voters and dedicated the victory to the "sacred memory" of Ajit Pawar.
While taking it to social media platform X, Pawar said that the trust shown by the people of Baramati through their votes was a tribute to "Respected Ajit dada," reflecting the deep emotional connect the electorate shares with the senior leader.
Sunetra Pawar dedicated the trust placed in her by voters to the memory of her late husband, Ajit Pawar, and urged people to exercise restraint and uphold conduct that reflects his ideals.
The Baramati bypoll results also stirred memories of Ajit Pawar among party members and supporters, with Sunetra Pawar noting that the moment was both significant and emotional for the party. She made a special appeal to workers of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), urging them to maintain restraint in celebrations.
Sunetra Pawar said, "As a mark of respect to Dada's ideals, no one should organise victory processions or scatter gulal."
Thanking the voters for giving her an opportunity to carry forward Baramati's legacy, Pawar emphasised that the electoral win marks the beginning of a new phase. "This is not the end; this is merely the beginning - a beginning of resolve, of struggle, and of a âNew Baramati'," Pawar said.
She also thanked the electorate for the mandate and said it marked the beginning of a new phase for the constituency.
The Baramati Assembly seat, considered a stronghold of the Pawar family, witnessed keen political attention during the by-election, with the outcome seen as a significant indicator of public sentiment in the region.
