Tiruchirappalli: Upset over his suspension on the charge of trying to misbehave with a woman subordinate, a 47-year-old District Judge along with his wife allegedly attempted suicide here today. Thanjavur District Judge T S Nandhakumar and his wife Revathy consumed poison in a lodge room here and had been admitted to a private hospital, police said.

They were found unconscious by the employees of the lodge, who opened the room with duplicate keys as there was no response from the occupants for a long time. The condition of Nandhakumar was stable while that of his wife stated to be serious, Police said.

The Judge had been suspended 15 days ago for allegedly trying to misbehave with a woman subordinate and some other charges. He was directed to stay in Tiruchirappalli, they said. Initial inquiry showed that Nandhakumar was a honest judge and firm man in his conviction and principles. The judge was frustrated with the suspension order, police said.
