US-born Aman Rao hammered a scintillating double century as out-of-reckoning Hyderabad thrashed Bengal by 107 runs in a Group B match to dent the latter's quarter-final hopes here on Tuesday.
Rao, 21, who was signed by Rajasthan Royals at the IPL auction, smashed 12 fours and 13 sixes en route to his 200 not out from 109 balls to take Hyderabad to a commanding 352-5. Sent in to bat, Rao tore apart a Bengal bowling attack featuring Mohammed Shami (3-70), Akash Deep (0-78) and Mukesh Kumar (0-55).
Mohammed Siraj then produced a sensational opening spell en route to figures of 10-0-58-4 to derail Bengal's chase as they folded for 245 in 44.4 overs.
Meanwhile, skipper Mayank Agarwal and Devdutt Padikkal helped Karnataka crush Rajasthan by 150 runs and enter the quarter-finals.
The sixth-round Group A game saw Mayank (100 off 107 balls) slamming his second century of the ongoing tournament alongside Padikkal (91 off 82 balls) as Karnataka carved out a massive 324-7. India pacer Prasidh Krishna (5-36) led the attack as Rajasthan crumbled for 174 in 38 overs.
In another match, Rishabh Pant-led Delhi stormed into the quarter-finals with a six-wicket win over Railways in their Elite Group D match.
Navdeep Saini (3-30) and Ayush Badoni (3-30) helped Delhi bowl them out for 179 in 40.4 overs. Chasing a modest 180, Delhi raced to 182-4 with a staggering 170 balls to spare. Opener Priyansh Arya smashed 80 off 41 balls.
Elsewhere, India all-rounder Axar Patel powered Gujarat to a 233-run win over Odisha. Axar top-scored with a fluent 73 off 60 balls and gave only 14 runs from his five overs as Gujarat piled up a daunting 333-6 before skittling Odisha out for 100 in 28.1 overs.
