The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia said that the Indian Premier League's (IPL) auction for the 2027 edition will be held in Goa in December.
"This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi last year, we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December," he said.
The multi-day match between India A Women and Australia A Women, which was scheduled to be played from September 29 to October 2, has been shifted from Dharamshala to Mohali due to persistent rain.
Speaking about the shift, Saikia said that the decision has been taken to ensure that the cricket activities continue without any weather interference.
"We have recently shifted the upcoming T20 matches from Dharamshala to Mohali because the ongoing weather conditions in Dharamshala are not very conducive for cricket. A lot of rainfall has been taking place there. Because of this incessant rainfall in Dharamshala, we decided that the matches should be moved to Mohali to ensure cricket activities continue without any interference from the weather," he said.
The match will now be played at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, which is also hosting the ongoing three-match One-Day series between the two teams, according to a media release from BCCI.
The BCCI secretary also spoke about the historic T20I match between Team India and Japan. He also credited the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman, Jay Shah, for the initiative.
"I congratulate the team, and it is not just about winning against the Japan men's team yesterday. It represents a new breakthrough in friendship between India and Japan. This was possible because of the initiative taken by ICC Chairman Jay Shah in Edinburgh, where he directed me to sit with my Japanese counterpart to organize this match in Japan as a mark of friendship between the Indian Cricket Board and the Japan Cricket Board. This vision finally fructified with yesterday's match," said Saikia.
"Great enthusiasm was on display, and this marks the beginning of a new era of friendship, development, and the spreading of cricket into new territories. I am certain that the response and enthusiasm shown by the Japanese people yesterday will definitely encourage the game of cricket to gain more popularity in Japan as well as its neighbouring countries," he added.
