Team India is set to lock horns with the West Indies in the three-match ODI series. The first match is scheduled to be played on September 27 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
Ahead of the series, Team India's veteran opening batsman Rohit Sharma is set to accomplish a new feat. The right-handed batsman requires 105 runs to complete 12,000 runs in the format's history.
Currently, Rohit has donned Indian ODI colours in 288 matches and has garnered 11,895 runs. With a career-best score of 264 runs, he also has 34 centuries and 62 half-centuries. If the right-handed batsman manages to score the required runs, he will then become third batsman from his country to complete 12,000 ODI runs.
Before him, legendary Team India's batsman Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have achieved the feat. Tendulkar concluded his ODI career with 18,426 runs, whereas Kohli has so far scored 14,941 runs in the format.
The second clash is scheduled to be played on September 30 at the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The Maharaja Yadvindra Singh PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh will host the third clash on October 3.
With this, both teams will prepare for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027. The ODI World Cup 2027 is set to be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Earlier, a grand ceremony in Johannesburg unveiled the 12 venues that will host next year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, with eight venues in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe and one in Namibia's capital Windhoek selected as tournament locations.
