Riding on skipper Hardik Tamore's unbeaten 152 and opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi's 112, Mumbai U-25 reached 303-3 against Tamil Nadu (TN) at stumps on Day One of their CK Nayudu Trophy encounter in Puducherry on Tuesday.

After electing to bat, Mumbai lost opener Musheer Khan (14) early, but India U-19 batsman Raghuvanshi and wicketkeeper-batsman Tamore showed determination to stitch a 230-run stand. Tamore's knock was laced with 15 fours and two sixes while Raghuvanshi hit 12 fours and two sixes.

This is the Mumbai U-25 team's last league game in Elite Group A and it's a must-win game for them to qualify for the knockouts.

The Mumbai boys outclassed Manipur by an innings and 253 runs last month in the first match. However, Mumbai had to content with a first innings lead result against Andhra Pradesh in the second league match.

"We need an outright win in this game to get ahead in the tournament. We've got a good start and want to capitalise by building a good total tomorrow [Wednesday]. I am confident in our bowling unit too," Tamore told mid-day on Tuesday. Meanwhile, coach Rajesh Pawar said: "This is a young team with five U-19 players in the squad. We have good pacers as well as spinners and we will take those 20 wickets to beat TN."
