The England women's team has announced a 15-player squad for their historic, first-ever women's Test match at Lord's, scheduled to begin on July 10 against India.
Nat Sciver-Brunt is set to become the first English woman to captain her country in a Test match at the historic venue. The squad features a fresh-faced look, with up to five players in contention to earn their maiden caps in the longest format of the game. Former captain Heather Knight will be involved in the squad too.
In the England squad, limited-overs regulars Alice Capsey, Tilly Corteen-Coleman, and Mady Villiers are in line for their red-ball debuts. Meanwhile, uncapped squad members Grace Potts and Ellie Threlkeld will be looking for their first senior international appearances for England.
Clare Connor, England's Managing Director of Women's Cricket, emphasised the significance of this monumental occasion for the domestic game.
"We have selected a strong Test squad under the leadership of Nat Sciver-Brunt for what will be another historic few days at Lord's for women's cricket," Connor said as quoted by ICC.
"Test cricket is a rare and wonderfully challenging experience in the women's game, and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format."
"For the 11 women who will get the chance to be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord's, it will be a moment to savour," Connor concluded.
Despite aggravating her calf injury during the T20 World Cup campaign earlier this week, Sciver-Brunt has been confirmed as captain and is prepared to lead in her 13th Test appearance. She will be supported by veteran Heather Knight, who stands as the squad's most experienced red-ball player with 14 caps to her name.
This fixture marks England's return to the longest format since January 2025, when they suffered a defeat against Australia during the away Women's Ashes encounter at the MCG.
