Ahead of England's Test series, Team India bowling coach Morne Morkel was surprised by lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah's energy during the practice session.

"Bumrah knows how to get himself ready, he knows how to prepare. I was blown away to see the energy on the ball the last three days. That's very exciting to see. I'm happy his body is in good shape at the moment," said Morkel during the press conference.

The coach also stated that the pacer's workload will be managed according to the situation.

"We'll manage him with that. We'll be smart with him because he's obviously key for us, but in terms of the first three net sessions, lot to be excited watching him bowl with the Dukes ball," he added.

Earlier, when the Indian squad was announced, chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that Bumrah was advised not to feature in consecutive Test matches. The precaution around the 31-year-old's feature started to build up after he sustained an injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Later, due to the recovery process, Bumrah missed out on Team India's Champions Trophy campaign. He made a comeback during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for Mumbai Indians (MI).

Before departing for England, Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir said that the management is yet to decide the matches in which Bumrah will play.
