Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer praised Virat Kohli after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru star scored yet another century in a successful IPL run chase against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Jaffer took to social media to highlight Kohli's remarkable consistency in run chases. The unbeaten century was Kohli's third hundred while chasing in the IPL, drawing level with Jos Buttler for the most centuries in IPL run chases.
Wasim Jaffer compares Kohli's consistency to âdeath and taxes'
Jaffer compared Kohli's match-winning knock to the inevitability of "death and taxes", calling them the three certainties of life.
"Death, taxes, and Virat Kohli playing a match-winning knock in a run chase. The three certainties of life," Jaffer posted on X.
Kohli came into the match after registering two consecutive ducks in his previous outings but showed no signs of pressure during the chase.
Kohli's unbeaten ton powers RCB to victory
Kohli smashed 105 not out off 60 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes, to help RCB chase down a target of 193 in Raipur.
RCB are currently at the top of the IPL 2026 points table as they continue their title defence campaign.
Speaking after the match, Kohli said he enjoys batting under pressure and believes such situations help players elevate their game.
"The celebration wasn't a big one because we know the importance of points. There's a reason why people say pressure is a privilege. Good pressure always makes you improve your game. You go a level up, you keep improving your game," Kohli said during the post-match presentation.
He admitted he was slightly nervous at the start after his recent struggles with the bat but focused on playing risk-free cricket.
"I was nervous; I just wanted to get off the mark. My positions at the crease, not trying anything extravagant, finding the gaps, staying in the present - I was able to back my game and play risk-free cricket," he added.
âI just love batting,' says Kohli
The former RCB captain also reflected on his long cricketing journey and his passion for batting.
"All these factors were very pleasing for me. I just love batting. What an honour to be playing at this level. This is all I have done all my life. I want to make the most of every day. You build your character," Kohli said.
