San Francisco Unicorns' Finn Allen turned heads with a brutal knock of 151 runs off just 51 deliveries, laced with five boundaries and 19 sixes, in the Major League Crickey (MLC) 2025 match against Washington Freedom. With this, he surpassed 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle's record for the most number of maximums in a T20 match.

Opening the innings for Unicorns, Finn played with a strike rate of 296.08. With his tally of 19 maximums, the 26-year-old surpassed Gayle's record of most sixes in a T20 innings. Previously, the former West Indies cricketer held the record along with Sahil Chauhan, who, too, smashed 18 maximums. Apart from Allen, Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Cooper Connolly registered the scores of 36 and 38 runs, respectively, for San Francisco.

Allen took just 49 deliveries to complete 150 runs, the fastest in the shortest format of the game. He also overtook Dewald Brevis, who previously smashed 150 runs in 52 deliveries against the Knight in South Africa's domestic tournament in the year 2022.

Out of his tally of 151, Allen garnered 134 runs from boundaries, including 114 coming off 19 sixes. Only Gayle, Hazratullah Zazai and Graham Napier have managed more runs through boundaries in a T20 innings. His 151 is the highest individual score in the history of MLC. Nicholas Pooran previously occupied the spot at the summit with his explosive 137' against Seattle Orcas in the 2023 final.

Allen faced just 34 deliveries to reach the celebrated three figures, which is the second-fastest century in a T20 franchise league. Chris Gayle enjoys the top spot with his 30-ball century against Pune Warriors in the IPL 2013.

Coming to the match, in an attempt to chase a target of 269 runs, the Glenn Maxwell-led Washington Freedom managed to score 146 runs. Their innings was wrapped up in 13.1 overs, thanks to Haris Rauf and Hassan Khan's spells. Completing 3.1 overs, Rauf bagged three wickets, and he was accompanied by Hassan, who, too, claimed three wickets in four overs. Carmi le Roux and Liam Plunkett registered two and one wickets, respectively. Later, Corey Anderson and his men came victorious by 123 runs in the opening match of the MLC.
