Former wicketkeeper-batter Sulakshana Naik feels that the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Team India is more than capable of clinching the title at home, as she believes they can handle the pressure ahead of the ODI Women's World Cup 2025.

"This side is very much capable of winning the World Cup. The only thing I am worried about is the pressure. They shouldn't take the pressure," she said during a panel discussion as part of the World Cup trophy tour.

India is set to co-host the ODI Women's World Cup 2025 along with Sri Lanka. The Women in Blue have never won any of the previous 12 editions of the global showpiece, making this a historic opportunity to clinch the title on home soil.

Sulakshana also recalled a conversation with former India men's cricketer Sandeep Patil about how to deal with pressure on the big stage.

"I had spoken to Sandeep Patil on how to handle pressure, why the men are able to manage it and why we sometimes cannot. At that time, he gave me very simple advice," the 46-year-old said.

"He told me, ‘Get used to it. That's the only way. The men are used to it. They don't care.'"

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) unveiled a special commemorative wall at its academy, featuring photographs of Mumbai's women captains.

"From Diana Edulji ji leading India in the first World Cup to today's stars like Jemimah Rodrigues, our players have carried the city's legacy with pride. This special wall is a tribute to our women captains, whose contributions will continue to inspire generations," said MCA president Ajinkya Naik.

Former India player Sangita Katware also shared her thoughts on the team's strategy, emphasizing the importance of spin bowling in the tournament.

"Spinners are going to be the key for this World Cup. But it has to be a collective effort. You can achieve this by supporting each other," she said.

The ODI Women's World Cup 2025 is all set to kick off on September 30, with the opening match scheduled between India and Sri Lanka at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.

India's much-anticipated clash against arch-rivals Pakistan is set to take place on October 5 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
