Shreyas Iyer marked Rakshabandhan with a touching tribute on social media, celebrating the special bond he shares with his sister, Shresta. Amid rising chatter around his potential return to the Indian cricket team, the post offered a glimpse into Iyer's personal life.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Iyer shared a cheerful photograph with Shresta, simply captioned, 'Happy Rakshabandhan'.

Following a strong showing as captain of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2025, Iyer has been working hard behind the scenes to reclaim his place in the Indian team. After a turbulent period marked by injuries and a dip in form, the Mumbai-born cricketer has strung together a series of consistent performances over the past few months. His leadership in the IPL and domestic circuit has reignited conversations around his potential selection, especially with India gearing up for a jam-packed home season that includes both T20I and Test series.

Under Iyer's leadership, Punjab Kings scripted one of their most memorable IPL campaigns in recent history, reaching the final for the first time in over a decade. While the ultimate glory narrowly eluded them, falling short by just six runs against a determined Royal Challengers Bengaluru side, Iyer's captaincy and individual brilliance stood out throughout the tournament.

The high-octane final, held at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, saw Punjab Kings come agonisingly close to lifting their maiden IPL title. Despite the heartbreak, the team's spirited run to the final reflected a newfound resilience and consistency under Iyer's stewardship.

Leading from the front, Iyer delivered one of his best-ever seasons in the IPL. He amassed an impressive 604 runs across 17 innings, averaging a remarkable 50.33 and striking at a fiery rate of 175.07. His form with the bat was instrumental in Punjab's turnaround, consistently anchoring chases and accelerating in crunch situations.

Meanwhile, several other Indian cricketers also shared glimpses of their Rakshabandhan celebrations. Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, and others took to social media to post heartfelt messages and pictures with their sisters. With the international calendar currently offering a brief window of respite, many players have used the opportunity to spend quality time with family.
