In the T20 World Cup 2026 match against Ireland, Australia emerged victorious by 67 runs at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
In an attempt to chase a target of 183 runs, Ireland was bowled out for 115 runs in 16.5 overs. Opening the innings, skipper Paul Stirling retired out after scoring one run in one ball. Fellow opening batsman Ross Adair scored 12 runs in nine balls, including a boundary and a maximum.
Harry Tector departed on a three-ball duck. Wicketkeeper-batsman Lorcan Tucker scored 24 runs in 27 balls, with the help of a boundary and a maximum. Curtis Campher scored four runs in two balls, including a boundary. Ben Calitz also accumulated two runs in four balls.
Gareth Delany managed to score 11 runs off 12 balls, which also included a boundary and a maximum. George Dockrell played a knock of 41 runs off 29 deliveries, which was laced with three boundaries and two maximums.
Facing six balls, Mark Adair scored 12 runs, including two boundaries. Barry McCarthy scored two runs in four balls. Matthew Humphreys stayed unbeaten on three runs in four balls.
Australia's Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis registered four-wicket hauls each. Bowling four overs, Zampa conceded 23 runs, whereas Ellis was smashed for 12 runs in 3.5 overs. Matthew Kuhnemann also chipped in with one wicket for 29 runs in four overs. Xavier Bartlett and Cooper Connolly went wicketless in the T20 World Cup 2026 match against the Irishmen.
Earlier, batting first, Australia's stand-in captain, Travis Head, departed on six runs in seven balls, including a boundary. Fellow opening batsman Josh Inglis scored 37 runs off 17 deliveries, including six boundaries and a maximum.
Cameron Green also scored 21 runs in 11 balls, with the help of a boundary and two maximums. Glenn Maxwell returned to the pavilion after scoring nine runs in nine balls, including a boundary.
Later, Matt Renshaw garnered 37after facing 33 balls, including two boundaries. Shouldering him was Marcus Stoinis, who smashed 45 runs off 29 deliveries, laced with two boundaries and a maximum.
Ireland's Mark Adair returned with the figures of two wickets for 44 runs in four overs. Matthew Humphreys, George Dockrell, and Harry Tector bagged one wicket each.
