Star opening batsman Rohit Sharma became the oldest Indian captain to lead the nation in the shortest format of the game. He captained at the age of 36 years and 256 days. Currently, he is just one win shy from becoming the most successful Indian captain in T20Is. So far, Rohit has captained the nation in 53 T20Is and has won 41 matches

Shikhar Dhawan

India's left-handed opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan comes second on the list. Back in the year 2021, Dhawan captained the "Men in Blue" at the age of 35 years and 236 days against Sri Lanka. Dhawan led the Indian team in just three T20I matches and had registered only one win

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

India's legendary captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the third oldest captain to lead in T20Is. Dhoni was aged 35 years and 52 days when he last captained India in the T20Is against West Indies back in the year 2016. Team India has played 72 T20I matches under Dhoni's captaincy and has won 41 games

Suryakumar Yadav

The ICC's number one T20I batsman Suryakumar Yadav is the fourth oldest Indian captain to lead in T20Is. He led India at the age of 33 years and 91 days against South Africa and Australia in 2023. So far, Yadav represented India as captain in seven T20Is out of which have won five matches

Virat Kohli

The fifth spot in the list is in the name of former India captain Virat Kohli. The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 was the last time Kohli captained India in T20Is. Back then his age was 33 years and 3 days. Kohli led India in 50 T20I matches and has won 30 games
