England coach Thomas Tuchel expressed his disappointment with the national team's fans for their âsilent' support at Wembley Stadium during the team's 3-0 win over Wales in a friendly on Thursday.
England's swaggering performance, which followed a 5-0 demolition of Serbia in a crucial World Cup qualifier in September, was a promising sign as they gear up for next year's World Cup.
All of the Three Lions's goals came in the first 20 minutes - through Morgan Rogers (3rd minute), Ollie Watkins (11th min) and Bukayo Saka (20th min) - but Tuchel's team failed to capitalise on their chances thereafter.
However, the German-born coach believed that the home crowd should shoulder some of the blame and could have done more to drive the team forward.
"We couldn't score the fourth one or the fifth one, the stadium was silent. Silent. We never got any energy back from the fans and I think the players delivered a lot to get more from the stands," said Tuchel.
Asked if he was expecting more from England's fans, Tuchel - known for his straight-talking - said: "Yes. What more can you give than three goals in 20 minutes, and the way we attacked Wales. If you then hear for half an hour just the Wales fans [singing], it's a bit sad because I think we [England] deserved big support today."
In terms of the result and performance itself, Tuchel was encouraged by the way they swatted aside Wales despite the absence of injured captain Harry Kane and other star players including Jude Bellingham, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden.
"We are ready for any team. Serbia was the other example of [our] teamwork. We created a lot of chances. We could use Harry all the time, but we need to [learn to] play without Harry and Jude. I think we played an excellent first half," he said.
England are on the verge of qualifying for the World Cup and could be certain to progress to the tournament if they win against Latvia on Tuesday, depending on other results in Group K.
Former Bayern Munich and Chelsea manager Tuchel has now won six of his seven games since replacing Gareth Southgate.
