Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gill admitted he lost his temper after France skipper Kylian Mbappe ignored his attempt to shake hands following his team's 0-1 round-of-16 defeat.

After the final whistle, Mbappe kept walking, leaving Gill hanging as the goalkeeper extended his right hand in a show of sportsmanship. An upset Gill threw the ball at Mbappe.

"I tried to shake his hand, but since he didn't pay me any attention, I lost my temper," Gill said. "But anyway, that was all I did; I calmed down afterward."

Tempers weren't exactly under control during the match either. "From the very first moment, we set out to make our presence felt on the pitch - to play hard," Gill said.
