St Mary’s stun champs Cathedral

St Mary's ICSE School (Mazgaon) staged a spirited comeback to upset defending champions Cathedral & John Connon School (Fort) 2-1 in a boys U-16 Div-I match of the Dream Sports Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school football tournament at Wings Sports Centre, Bandra, on Monday.

After a goalless first half, Cathedral went ahead in the 36th minute when Siddhant Vanikar finished off a well-worked move. St Mary's responded immediately with skipper Arius Dadiburjor (38') netting the equaliser, capitalising on a defensive lapse. The St Mary's boys continued to press forward in search of the winner, and their persistence paid off in the dying moments, when Om Vahamane struck from close range to make it 2-1.
