Lando Norris maintained his charge towards a maiden Formula One crown on Friday by grabbing his third pole position in as many races at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The McLaren driver, who has surged into a 24-point lead in the drivers championship, clocked a fastest time of 1 min 47.934 secs in wet conditions. Red Bull's world champion Max Verstappen was second fastest (1 min 48.257 secs).
"Boy that was stressful as hell. It's so slippery out there. As soon as you hit the curb, you snap one way and then the other way and come close to hitting the wall," said Norris of the treacherous track conditions.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton endured a day to forget, finishing on the bottom of the timesheets in his Ferrari. "It was very slippery and I just struggled to generate heat in the tires for some reason," a downcast Hamilton said.
