Lovlina Borgohain lands boxing academy plot for just R1

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the decision after a Cabinet meeting, saying the academy would help nurture young boxing talent in the state.

India boxer Lovlina Borgohain, who returned from the recent Asian Games in Japan with a gold medal, has received approval to set up a boxing academy on four bighas of land near Guwahati for a token amount of just R1. A bigha in Assam measures 14,400 sq ft.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the decision after a Cabinet meeting, saying the academy would help nurture young boxing talent in the state.

It's a double high for Borgohain, who has also been promoted from Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) by the Assam Home Department following her latest gold-medal feat.
