Ritu Phogat backs better fitness through Last One Standing

India's mixed martial arts (MMA) star Ritu Phogat, who was recently named as the brand ambassador of Last One Standing (LOS), a unique national strength and endurance championship, has said that it is her mission to ensure people embrace healthier lifestyles.

"It's not difficult. If you work hard, nothing is difficult, but if you don't work hard, then anything will feel difficult. A lot of people are becoming more aware about fitness now and getting involved in it so this is the right time," said Phogat, 31, a former Commonwealth Wrestling Championship gold medallist, who made the switch from the wrestling mat to the MMA cage with a view to becoming the country's first world champion in the sport.

LOS combines multiple fitness challenges where participants, both men and women above 18 years of age, will compete across six different events - squats, bench press, deadlift, pull-ups, giant bat run, and air bike. The male division will feature under-30 and above-30 categories, while the female division will include under- 25 and above-25 categories.

Rajesh Rai, MD, Jerai Fitness, curator of the event, insisted that LOS is not just for professional athletes, but for anyone who enjoys fitness. "Today, convenience has reduced movement from our lives. Our bodies are capable of incredible strength, yet we challenge them less. Last One Standing is our way of bringing back that spirit of endurance and discipline, and it's not just for elite athletes, but for anyone and everyone willing to test themselves and push beyond their limits," said Rai.

LOS, to be held in Mumbai's Nesco on December 13, 2026, carries a total cash prize purse of Rs 21 lakh. Registrations can be done on www.lastonestanding.in
