The Chlorophyll Estate
Arya and Kishmish welcome us as we arrived at The Chlorophyll Estate on a Sunday afternoon. Who are they? Just the cutest, most gentle German Shepherds you will ever meet. After our drive from Goregaon West to Dahisar T Manor (the village, not suburb) - which is a straightforward route, albeit a road that does have some errant drivers - being greeted by the two four-legged furballs renewed our faith that it was going to be a good Sunday.
The estate has four bedrooms, a living and dining room, a pool, and gardens and farms all around, all done up in a modern, tasteful manner - we especially loved the rattan furniture. Keyrur Barad, the owner, tells us that there are a varied mix of trees, including coconut, mango, jamun, and chikoo. Okra and gourds, lemongrass, basil, mint, and bayleaf - all grow here.
Relax in the pool drinking chai and eating pizza sandwiches
We wanted to get into the pool right away, but we opted to having lunch first - much of which is made from fresh produce from the farms. The staff is prompt and friendly, and before long we were tucking into a wholesome meal of kurkuri bhindi, paneer kadhai, chicken curry, dal tadka, and hot rotis. Everything, especially the bhindi and paneer was excellent, and so was the freshly-made chaas. After lunch we had some coffee, and off in the pool we went.
At the pool as well, Arya and Kishmish will give you company, though if you bounce around too much in the water, they may think you are in trouble. You can see an abundant sky, and greenery all around, and it's quiet and calming to just float around. The time we visited, the water was warm, but thanks to the monsoon, I have a feeling, the water is going to be crisp and cool now.
Meals are made with farm fresh veggies
We spent the evening having a few drinks (you have to take your own) and playing a game of truth and dare (mostly truths) as the staff served us some tasty tandoori broccoli. Dinner was herb chicken, pasta, and ice cream, and we were truly stuffed. Thanks to the day spent doing nothing, just floating around, we slept deep and well.
Morning at the estate, which began with hearing the dogs run round and birds singing, was once again spent in the pool - now a bit cooler. We wanted to feel the stillness and peace one last time before we headed back to the hustle of Mumbai. It's a perfect quick trip, and if you, family, and friends want to connect with nature, or yourself, we suggest book now.
