The relationship between Diwali and diyas is eternal. "My mom's name is Deepa while mine is Dia, so Diwali is a very personal festival for us. It seems like the whole world is celebrating us," says actor Dia Mirza with a laugh when we draw attention to the fact that her name is symbolic to Diwali. The pretty lady who is on cloud nine after her latest release, shares her festive plans with CS:

Sparkling plans
I usually spend Diwali with family and friends. My mom and I spend the earlier part of the evening lighting up the whole house with diyas. Every nook and corner of my apartment is filled with lights. Later, I step out to wish friends and family 'Happy Diwali' and party with friends and the industry folk. My first stop every year is the Bhagnani household. They mean a lot to me because Vashu Bhagnaniji gave me my first break in B-town. This Diwali I bought a ghagra for myself. It's is very vibrant in colour. Every year, you see me in Diwali parties dressed in salwar kameezes or saris, but this time it's going to be different.

Donning the chef's hat
I hold a few parties on the days leading to Diwali inviting my different sets of friends. We cook elaborate meals and indulge ourselves in mithai. I am planning to cook Hyderabadi biryani this Diwali while my mom will take of the accompaniments. After all, what is a festival without good food? On Dhanteras, we got some new pots and pans for our kitchen as well.u00a0

Light of love
While the media is thinking that this is my first Diwali with Sahil, the truth could be otherwise, couldn't it (laughs out loud)? Diwali is also a big deal for him because he is a Delhi boy, and you know how they celebrate Diwali in the North. Yes, we will spend time together but I wouldn't like to go into the details. I will just say that I am grateful to God for bringing Sahil into my life. He has brought a lot of love and goodness into my life.u00a0

What's on the cards?
While I am usually cautious with money, I do enjoy playing cards on Diwali. Last year, I won a lot of money but distributed all of it at the end of the party. It doesn't feel great to walk away with your friend's money while they end up on the losing side. While I take card parties casually, stars like Akshay (Kumar) play very seriously. You should see the look on their faces when a Taash party is on (laughs).
