Bhindi Ka Achaar in New York? The pickle guys at 49, Essex Street can pickle almost anything you like. I was amazed to see lady's finger being pickled here. They are popular for their large barrel-cured kosher pickle, too. Their sour pickles use peppy ingredients like turnip, pineapple and horseradish
I went shopping on a Sunday afternoon and got myself ingredients to make a fat juicy avocado spinach and salami sub
At Ippudo in East Village, we tried The Hakata Classic, which is a traditional Japanese broth with thin, straight noodles and a slice of pork with a thin layer of fat
Egg Cream Soda has some diehard fans in NYC. The soda fountain concoction of milk, seltzer water, and chocolate syrup (without eggs or cream) is something I savoured the most on my trip. I finalised the 1/2 litre glass on my own, and I crave for it every day now.
Serendipity is my favourite rom-com flick. How could I not go to Serendipity for the frozen hot chocolate? While it isn’t the best hot chocolate I’ve had in my life, the Banana Split is worth living for
Katz’s Deli has that table where the famous scene from When Harry Met Sally was shot. I went traditional and tried a Knish. Like a Jewish samosa, it is made from leftover meats or veggies
Try the Portobello Shroom Burger and the Black and White Shake at The Shake Shack at Madison Square Park. You’ll be a happy person!
Mamoun’s falafel is the oldest falafel store in NYC on Macdougal street (Greenwich village). Flooded with students this store has falafel at very affordable prices. If you’re daring enough please try the hot sauce. The kofta and shawarma are pretty good too. The hummus has the right mix of sesame and lemon. Delish!
Opposite the famous Indian Michelin star restaurant Junoon is this street-style, vibrant Mexican coffee ba,r
Tacombi Flatiron. My pick would be fried fish or seared fish taco; do try the carnitas!
