Harsh Rall hands Thakur U-17 DSO title

Skipper Harsh Rall’s brace helped Thakur College (Kandivli) rally to a 2-1 win over St Andrew’s College (Bandra) in the final of the District Sports Office (DSO) boy’s U-17 Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament at Sports Authority of India Ground, Kandivli yesterday.

Bomesh Masurkar gave the Bandra outfit the lead in the 17th minute after placing the ball in the left corner of the goal following a brilliant solo effort. In the second half, Rall equalised for Thakur college from the penalty spot in the 38th minute after a bad tackle in the box.

St Andrew’s then fell behind after another rough tackle, this time from Johnhatan D’Souza, inside the box gave away a penalty. While Johnhatan received a red card, Rall completed his brace.

“We showed good fighting spirit even when we were down in the first half. We broke their defence and managed to get two goals and win. I am happy with my team as they performed well in the whole tournament,” said Thakur College’s assistant coach Monty Krishna Sena.
