Dear Diana,
I am 24 and work in a beauty salon. I like a guy who stays in my society. He doesn't seem to acknowledge my feelings for him. I asked him what really is going on between us, to which he replied, “We are friends”. All this while, I thought we were more than that. I just want him to give up on his inhibitions and accept me as his girlfriend as I want him to be my boyfriend.

Dear Vinodini,
You may be hellbent on making him your boyfriend, but it appears that he does not have feelings for you. Just because he talks to you does not make him your boyfriend. Perhaps there is already someone else on the scene. Why don't you ask him if there is someone else in his life? He has already told you that he considers you a mere friend, so it is pretty obvious. The faster you realise the truth, the better it will be for you. You may pine for him, but it is only you in the relationship.

Dear Diana,
I'm 25 and if I'm not mistaken, I'm in love. The girl happens to be from the same office I work in. She is nice, good-looking and fun to be with. I think she likes me too. Though it's too early for me to ask her whether she loves me, so I can't pop the question anytime soon. Fortunately, I'm patient enough. The only trouble is I saw her brother recently and he's this huge beefy guy about a foot taller than me. I'm having second thoughts now. I don't want to step on his toes.

Dear Hamish,
Step out of your imaginary world. Considering that you two work in the same office, there are many common topics of conversation from the canteen to the office politics to the boss. First, get to know her and if she is interested, she will surely drop hints. Befriend her, before popping the question. As for her burly brother, grow up. I am sure she knows how to take care of herself.
