Ayush Jethwa's magnificent knock of 173 which came off just 160 deliveries, helped Swami Vivekanand International School (Borivli) declare their first innings at 373-6 against Don Bosco (Matunga) in the Giles Shield Elite division league, third round at Islam Gymkhana yesterday. Put into bat, Swami Vivekanand opened with Swaroop Walanju and Rajsingh Deshmukh who put on 46 runs. Swaroop departed after being stumped by Aarya Chowkidar off a Chris D'Britto delivery. Ayush joined Rajsingh at the crease and both smashed the Bosco bowlers with a flurry of boundaries and sixes. They put on 153 runs for the second wicket. Rajsingh smashed 16 fours and one six but was unlucky to miss out on a century as he was bowled for 99.

Left-arm spinner Chris then bowled Ayush Vartak for nine. Malhar Mane and Ayush then put on 102 runs for the fourth wicket. After scoring a massive 242 at the same venue a while ago, Ayush was determined to reach the magical figure yet again but was bowled for 173 by Bhushan Sawant. Ayush smashed 26 fours and one six.

Chris was the pick of the bowlers scalping 3-122 in his 23 overs for the Matunga outfit. In reply, Bosco were 61 for 4 in 16 overs as medium pacer Akshat Pathak picked up three wickets for SVIS. At Police Gymkhana, Aman Khan's 59 helped IES VN Sule Guruji English Medium School (Dadar) post 213-8 in 98 overs on Day One against Rizvi Springfield (Bandra).
