Sunny Devidas Rathod, a well-known social worker and the driving force behind Shri Sai Seva Sangh, Charkop, recently shared insights into his 12-year-long journey of dedication, struggle, and unwavering commitment to social service. What began as a small initiative rooted in compassion has today grown into a large-scale movement impacting thousands of lives across Mumbai.
Speaking about his journey, Sunny Devidas Rathod highlighted how the Sangh has consistently stood by people in need, irrespective of caste, religion, or background. One of the organization’s major achievements includes feeding over 25,000 people through regular food distribution drives, festivals, and emergency relief programs. These initiatives were especially crucial during difficult times, ensuring that no one slept hungry.
Apart from mass feeding programs, Shri Sai Seva Sangh has actively engaged in donating food aid to underprivileged families, daily wage workers, and those affected by crises. Rathod emphasized that providing dignity along with aid has always been the core philosophy of the Sangh.
Medical assistance has been another strong pillar of the organization’s work. Over the years, the Sangh has helped numerous individuals during medical emergencies by arranging funds, hospital support, blood donations, and timely assistance for treatment. “In emergencies, even a few minutes can save a life. Our team has always tried to act faster than the problem,” Rathod shared.
Beyond food and medical support, Shri Sai Seva Sangh has been involved in various social welfare activities, including community support programs, awareness campaigns, and helping families during personal and financial crises. Rathod credited this success to the dedication of volunteers and the trust of the local community.
Reflecting on the challenges, Rathod said the journey was never easy. “There were times when resources were limited, support was less, and the workload was overwhelming. But the faith in Sai Baba and the smiles of people we helped kept us going,” he said.
The milestone event celebrating 12 years of service received significant support and encouragement from several political leaders, social organizations, and well-known public figures. The initiative was supported by MLA Shri Aslam Shaikh and MLA Shri Sunil Rane, along with organizations such as the I Love Mumbai Foundation. Popular personalities including Thara Bhai Joginder, Hindustani Bhau, and Elvish Yadav also extended their support, while Cell Buddy contributed to the success of the event aswell. Rathod expressed gratitude to all supporters, stating that such collective backing strengthens the mission of social service.
