Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde are busy shooting for their upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, and it was recently revealed that the makers have recreated a new version of Chunnari Chunnari from Biwi No. 1 for the film. While the song's original version was composed by Anu Malik, it was Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Anuradha Sriram who lent their powerful voices to the energetic track. Now, ace singer Abhijeet has reacted to the news of the song being recreated and shared that he wasn't informed about it.

Abhijeet Bhattacharya was not informed about Chunnari Chunnari remake

The singer, while talking to HT City, said, “Mujhe music composer, film ke director kisi ne nahi bataya ki iss song ko remake kiya jaa raha hai. Himmat bhi nahi kar sakte batane ki.” (Neither the music composer nor the film director told me that this song is being remade. They don’t even have the courage to tell me.)

“For the past 25 years, I have heard it being played at functions and parties, and would always think, ‘What is it about the song? There was nothing that I remember from the time I sang it.’ But I do realise it has become iconic for fans,” he further added while recalling the time when the song was shot.

While sharing his views on the iconic song being recreated, Abhijeet said, “Mujhe farak nahi padhta itni chhoti cheez se. I don’t get involved much. In the market, copies are sold more than the original. Only great people know the value of the original. Tuchhi cheez mein main padhta hi nahi hoon.”

Remaking old popular songs is not a new trend. Several films in recent times have incorporated retro tracks to evoke nostalgia among Bollywood moviegoers.
