In the 12 years since Singham’s (2011) release, Rohit Shetty’s cop universe has expanded, giving us several heroic on-screen police officers. But earlier this month, Shetty and leading man Ajay Devgn went back to the franchise that started it all. The duo began shooting for Singham Again, the third instalment in the Singham series, in Mumbai. Leading lady Kareena Kapoor Khan joined them soon after. Now, mid-day has learnt that the team is almost done with the first schedule, and will head to Hyderabad next week for the second stint.

Sources say that the director has lined up an extensive 45-day schedule in the south. “Singham Again’s team has been shooting at Yash Raj Studios in Andheri over the past fortnight. Next week, they will fly to Hyderabad where Rohit intends to shoot a chunk of the action sequences. Many local stuntmen will be hired for the leg. Rohit plans to wrap up the actioner by December,” reveals a source.

Singham Again is Shetty’s most star-studded offering. While Devgn and Kapoor reprise their roles of Bajirao Singham and Avni Kamat, they will be joined by Ranveer Singh’s Simmba and Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi. That’s not all. In a bid to further expand his cop universe, the director has roped in Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff for this instalment. The buzz is their characters will set the stage for potential standalone movies.
