Munmun Dutta, who has been winning hearts as Babita Ji in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for more than 17 years, recently shared some fun insights into the show’s most memorable and hilarious moments. She especially spoke about the much loved scenes between Jethalal and Babita, which continue to be fan favourites even today. During a candid podcast conversation, the actress looked back at her long journey and the madness that often unfolds behind the camera.

Munmun Dutta talks about being a part of the show for 17 years

Talking about the countless comic scenes she has shot over the years, Munmun admitted that it is impossible to remember them all. “Bahot saari cheezein main bhul gayi hoon. It’s been 17 years. Kitne saare scenes kiye hain humne. Arre bahot funny hote hain,” she said, laughing as she recalled the chaos and fun on the sets.

She revealed that if the makers ever decide to release behind the scenes footage, it would leave audiences surprised. “Main toh kitni baar bolti hoon ke BTS kabhi release kiya na show ka, it’s crazy,” Munmun shared, hinting at the uncontrollable laughter, bloopers and spontaneous moments that happen during shoots.

The actress explained that many of the show’s most iconic scenes are shaped during scene readings, when actors add their own creative touch. “Samjh lo hum koi scene karne waale hain, uske pehle hum scene reading karte hain. Usmein hum kuch apna hi daal ke usko alag hi direction mein le jaate hain,” she said, highlighting how improvisation often makes the comedy feel more natural.

Recalls the bhootni track

Munmun also spoke about the popular Bhootni track, which remains one of the most memorable storylines of the show. The arc involved long shooting hours and night schedules, but she clarified that despite the spooky theme, there was nothing frightening on set. “Log bolte hain negative energy hoti hai ya ghosts hote hain, par mujhe kabhi kuch feel nahi hua. Main aaram se andhere mein bhi chal sakti hoon,” she said confidently.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which first aired in 2008, continues to enjoy massive popularity among viewers of all ages. The light hearted chemistry between characters like Jethalal and Babita, combined with relatable humour, has made the show a timeless favourite, and Munmun Dutta’s candid reflections offer fans a warm glimpse into the fun and energy behind the scenes.
