Sanvikaa, who won hearts as Rinki in Panchayat, opened up about her viral post on being an outsider in the industry, clarifying it came from a specific, hurtful experience and a simple desire for respect

Few shows in India have managed to grip audiences quite like Panchayat. Now in its fourth season, the series has quietly transformed into a cultural staple- its heartland humour and layered storytelling resonating far beyond Phulera. And at the heart of this slow-burn sensation is Rinki, the soft-spoken yet spirited daughter of the Pradhan, played by actress Sanvikaa.
Sanvikaa, who has become a household name thanks to her portrayal of Rinki, is both humbled and amazed by the show’s meteoric rise. “The makers, writers, and their ideas were brilliant. They are constantly on their toes to do better,” she said in an interview with Mid-day, attributing Panchayat’s success to its solid writing and the unshakable support of its loyal viewers. “It’s the audience who are the biggest pillar of our show. Without them, we wouldn't be here.”
Sanvikaa on viral 'wish to be insider' post
Days before the release of Panchayat season 4 last month, Sanvikaa drew attention with her post on difficulties of being an outsider in the industry. She wrote, "Sometimes I wish I was an insider or may be from a very powerful background, things would have been so much easier (maybe, I don’t know). As basic as getting respect and being treated as an equal. The battles would have been lesser. Hanging on…"
Talking about her post, Sanvikaa shared, "I said this for a particular context and the way articles came out after that, it was like blown out of proportion. It did come from a hurtful place and I was targeting a particular situation. It gets very easier when you belong to a certain community where you know each other. "
She added, "It gets pretty easy when you can make a call and you can arrange meetings or there is someone to guide you. Also, if you come from a powerful background, there are always, lot of people to support you, a lot of money where you can put. I don't have a problem with the people who have connections in the industry. My fight is not that they are getting this or that. My demands are just as basic as getting respect. It isn't that difficult to respect someone."
Sanvikaa on love she has been getting
Offscreen, Sanvikaa’s own journey has been nothing short of transformative. From uncertain beginnings- dabbling in costume departments and engineering—to taking acting workshops and surviving on daily auditions, Panchayat has been the turning point. “It made me from nobody to somebody,” she admits. “Now, wherever I go, people recognize me. It’s overwhelming, the kind of love Rinki has received.”
Despite the struggles, she holds no grudges and cherishes the love she receives as Rinki. “There’s no downside to being known for a beloved character. I’m grateful for every bit of it.”
And if she could give her on-screen alter ego a piece of advice? “Focus on your career more than your love life,” she laughs. “Career is more important.”
As she looks ahead to new roles and greater horizons, Sanvikaa remains grounded by the show that changed everything. “Panchayat has given me everything I am today. And for that, I’ll always be thankful.”
