Today marks day nine of Navratri 2025. The colour pink is donned in honor of Maa Siddhidarti. Pink symbolises compassion, love and harmony. It is also considered a colour associated with femininity, compassion and maternal care as it is a soothing colour.

Maa Sidhhidarti is the ninth and final form of Maa Durga. She is worshipped on the concluding day of Navratri and known as the ultimate manifestation of Mahashakti. She is depicted as gracefully sitting on a lotus, or a lion. She holds a lotus, conch shell, mace and sudarshan chakra (god’s discus) in her four hands, symbolising her divine benevolence and authority.

The name is derived from the Sanskrit words ‘ Siddhi’ which means ‘perfection’ or ‘attainment,’ and ‘Darti’ which means ‘giver’ or ‘bestower.’ It is believed that as the embodiment of perfection and divine powers, Maa Siddhidarti is revered as the granter of knowledge, fulfilment and spiritual achievements. Maa Siddhidarti’s blessings bestows extraordinary capabilities known as Siddhi.

Maa Siddhidarti holds an important philosophical and spiritual significance in Hindu religion as the embodiment of supernatural powers. She represents the culmination of the spiritual journey granting her devotees with both spiritual and material accomplishments.

Devotees who wish to seek ultimate wisdom, spiritual powers and liberation can worship her. Devotees can worship Maa Siddhidarti by offering sweets, coconut, fruits and flowers, especially yellow flowers.

Pink is a versatile colour that pairs beautifully with neutrals like white, grey, and beige for a subtle look. For a bolder statement, devotees can match pink with hues of blue, red, vibrant green, purple, or gold. Monochrome styling also works well—pairing light pinks with darker shades creates depth and elegance.

As the nine-day festival draws to a close, devotees are filled with a deep sense of devotion and spirituality. Though their hearts aren’t ready to bid farewell to Maa, they do so with the hope of her return next year and a sense of gratitude and reverence. Meanwhile, the city comes alive with the vibrant spirit of Dussehra just around the corner.
