WHAT are your Saturday night plans?” This remains one of the most frequently asked questions as the weekend approaches. Tired of the same bar banter and predictable cocktails? Here’s a cool way to tipple things nicely, Saturday night a well-deserved change as Buenos Aires’ Tres Monos, ranked No 7 on the World’s 50 Best Bars, and crowned Best Bar in South America, will take over Scarlett House, Bandra. The evening promises to be a flavour collision as top mixologists from the award-winning bar bring their zesty, herbaceous perspective right to Mumbai.

Tres Monos (Spanish: Three monkeys) is known for cocktails that are playful, precise, and packed with personality that is borrowed from each continent. Expect a South American take on your go-to classic cocktails. “The motive is to blend in different cultures and bring in a fresh perspective to the palate. The main difference, and what we’re excited to showcase is that vibrancy with a zesty pop of fresh ingredients,” said Saurabh Patil, the head bartender at Scarlett House.

On the menu will be La Uatafak, a layered blend of Hibiki, green apple, sandalwood, and lemon verbena; Matetini, a bold, herbal twist on the martini with Roku gin, sherry, vermouth, and Peru’s huacatay mint; Paloma Portena, a vibrant mix of Tres Monos Northern liquor, watermelon, mint, and grapefruit soda; and the signature Chimi Highball, a smoky-tropical number pairing Laphroaig scotch with pineapple, honey, and chimichurri, making it a classic savoury cocktail.

“The key ingredient that makes or breaks the Indian cocktail and South American cocktail is that they share the same undertone flavour majorly being spicy and fruity flavours,” according to Fay Baretto, head of the beverage programme, Scarlett House.

We suggest you quickly make a reservation for a heady night out in Bandra, with a little help from Buenos Aires.
