In 2021, Raksha Bandhan will involve intimate or remote celebrations as some siblings may still not be able to meet each other, separated by geography and pandemic-induced travel challenges. Falling on August 22 this year, the festival — which celebrates the bond between a brother and sister — calls for sisters to tie a rakhi on their brother’s wrist and receive a gift from him in return.

No festival is complete without delicious food, however. While this food is traditionally made at home, the occasion also launches cravings for more indulgently prepared delicacies. Ever since Mumbai relaxed its lockdown rules a few days ago, restaurants are allowed to remain open even on weekends. But for those who are still hesitant to dine outside or those who would like to send treats to siblings living elsewhere in the city, ordering in is a viable option.
