Men are increasingly turning into Omega men, as opposed to the Alpha male - they sleep in late, live with their parents and don't have regular salaried jobs - but still happy with their lives.
On a typical day, he wears tatty clothes, plays computer games and "works on his music".
He does his washing and cooks his meals, and is usually single.
Omega Man is having his moment of glory in Hollywood, and has been celebrated in films 'Knocked Up' and 'The 40 Year Old Virgin'.
And now, Ben Stiller is playing Omega Man in new movie 'Greenberg', in which he portrays an aimless fortysomething with no career, girlfriend or ambition.
One such Omega Man is Mark O'Donoughue, 25, a musician who lives with his parents in Baguley, Gtr Manchester.
His band, 'The Comrades Club', is unsigned but he is sure the Alpha Male lifestyle is not for him.
Donoughue believes in working to live and not the other way round.
"I'd rather be playing on my Xbox than slaving away at work. I play for between four and six hours a day. I'm always on Facebook too, updating the band's page.
"I'm happy with my life the way it is - it's much better than working your socks off," he adds.
