A dispute over a mobile charger in Goregaon area of Mumbai escalated to violence, leaving one person seriously injured, the police said.

A 38-year-old suspect, identified as Naresh Saud, seriously injured 21-year-old Krishna Nalavade near Atlanta Estate in Goregaon East on Sunday night.

According to police sources, both-- the injured and the attacker reside in the same locality.

The altercation began when Saud tried to take Nalavade’s mobile charger. When Nalavade refused and removed the charger from the plug, Saud became enraged, an official said.

In a fit of anger, Saud abused Nalavade and left the spot, only to return with a sharp weapon (Koita) from his house, he said.

"Saud attacked Nalavade on his chest, shoulder, and neck, causing severe injuries before fleeing the crime scene," an official said.

Nalavade was rushed to the Hindu Hruday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Municipal Hospital in Jogeshwari by the locals.

The incident was reported to the Vanrai police, who quickly responded, conducted a panchanama, and recorded Nalavde's statement.

An FIR has been registered against Saud under sections 307, 504, and 506 (2) of the Indian Penal Code.

The police investigation revealed that both men are jobless and reside in the same locality.

"The dispute over the mobile charger cable led to the violent attack by Saud, who is currently absconding. A team has been formed to search for him,” according to an officer from the Vanrai police station.
