This name appears in the credits of some of the greatest films ever made in the history of Indian cinema, the most recent being Taare Zameen Par. Many filmmakers have turned to Dev Anand's Anand Recording Studios for sound recording and dubbing. Now, this bungalow, which has become a landmark of sorts on Zigzag Road, Pali Hill, is being brought down. The two-decade old structure will make way for a 12-storeyed swanky tower.

According to sources from Bandra's real estate industry, the nearly 19,000 sq ft of land will remain shut for 18 months for construction of the new building. They claim that one of Mumbai's lead-ing industrialists isu00a0 involved in the redevelopment project.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0

Anand told MiD DAY, "The studio will also be redeveloped in a much better way. I have quite a big space here and hence I am redeveloping it with a close friend. However, I cannot disclose the name of the developer."

Real estate sources claimed that the cost and scale of redevelopment of the bungalow is still being worked out between the veteran actor and the developer. It is learnt that along with the studio, Anand is also demanding that a penthouse should be built on the plot. The actor's son Suneil also confirmed that the studio is shut for redevelopment.u00a0 He said, "The work will take more than 12 months. The design being worked on is for a 12-storeyed structure, but the plans have not yet been finalised."

Established in August 1986, this premiere motion picture sound post-production facility specialises in voice overs, dubbing, surround mixes in all formats and is certified by Dolby Laboratories, US. Over 3,000 motion pictures have been mixed and surround mixed in all languages at the Anand Recording Studios.
