Veteran Dalit leader and former Governor of Bihar and Kerala, R S Gavai, was cremated on Sunday with state honours in Amravati district.

His sons Justice Bhushan Gavai, who is a Bombay High Court judge, and Rajendra, a leader of the Republican Party of India jointly lit the funeral pyre.
Gavai had passed away at a private hospital in Nagpur after a prolonged illness on Saturday. He was 86.
