Dost Mohammed (50) a taxi driver for the last 25 years had a date with death last night. But fate decreed otherwise, and Mohammed cheated death by a whisker.

At 6.45 pm, a passenger had hired his taxi from Metro junction to Lamington Road. Mohammed had dropped off the passenger just belowu00a0Yusuf Manzil.

As I sat behind the wheel, paralysed with shock, the roof of my cab collapsed and hit me on the head," said Mohammed. He was pulled out of the taxi by a bystander.

"It was only when I got out of the taxi that I realised I had been given another life as the whole building collapsed before me," added the cabbie.

He, however, has no idea about the fate of the passenger he had dropped off.
